OUR COMPANY
In 1976, with 20 years of industry experience, Grahame Orchard founded Wallboard Tool Company as Australia’s first specialised supplier of tools for the plasterboard industry. His goal was to provide Australian plasterers with a comprehensive selection of high-quality trade tools, featuring renowned brands such as Hyde Tools, Wallboard Tools, Telpro Panellifts, Premier Taping Tools, Trim-Tex, and many more. This vision formed the foundation for Wallboard Tools to grow into the largest supplier of specialised plasterboard tools in Australia.
Over the years, Wallboard Tools has continuously expanded its product range and forged new partnerships with world-leading brands to offer innovative, solution-driven tools and equipment for plasterers, painters, and renderers. Our mission, however, remains unchanged: to deliver exceptional service, high-quality products, and unmatched expertise to our customers.
OUR HISTORY
- 1976: Wallboard Tool Company commenced trading at Granville in Sydney with brands including Hyde Tools and Wal-Board Tools USA.
- 1979: First to sell auto taping tools in Australia, previously tools were rented.
- 1981: A HS-72 Hand Sander was Wallboard's first branded product ranged.
- 1984: Premier Tools (Tapepro's forerunner) was added to Wallboard's range.
- 1985: Telpro Panellifts were introduced by Wallboard Tools, which greatly changed the way plasterboard was lifted and fixed in place.
- 1986: Wallboard's second warehouse was opened in Burleigh, Queensland.
- 1989: Our first professional company sales representative was appointed.
- 1996: Wallboard Tools launched the Trim-Tex Drywall Products trims range with the Archway beads, the first product to create interest.
- 2001: Tapepro Tools commenced manufacturing the "blue tool" range in Australia and Wallboard Tools was granted the distribution.
- 2003: The company's third warehouse was opened at Keilor East in Victoria.
- 2011: Wallboard's Facebook page and YouTube channel were created and now boasts over 12,000 page likes and/or subscribers.
- 2021: Wallboard Tools celebrates its 45th year.
